Facebook, Tinder, Instagram, Airbnb and Snapchat have at least one thing in common: They are all billion-dollar companies founded by entrepreneurs… in their 20s. CNBC caught up with each of these CEOs to discuss their original ideas:
Kevin Systrom: Age 26, Instagram
System’s goal was to grow as quickly and as fast as possible. “Within two years of starting Instagram it had 30 million users and sold to Facebook for $1 billion. Today, Instagram has more than 400 million users.”
Brian Chesky: Age 26, Airbnb
Cheeky just needed to help pay for his apartment in San Francisco, and now has more than 2 million listings.
Mark Zuckerberg: Age 19, Facebook
Zuckerberg developed Facebook from his college dorm room into a $341 billion social media giant.
Sean Rad: Age 26, Tinder
“Rad was looking to create a platform that would allow users to meet new people,” which has grown into a multi billion-dollar app.
Evan Spiegel: Age 21, Snapchat
Spiegel turned what his classmates thought was a terrible idea into $16 billion.
